 2022 Preview 


       Mobile Christian completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region one, the Leopards earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Mobile Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Bibb County by a score of 40-36.

       Mobile Christian took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2014. The Leopards lost as many games as in any season since 2014.

       Since 2010, Mobile Christian has gone a combined 98-48. Their 67.1% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Mobile Christian has managed to compile a record of 174-113. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 3A and 86th in the AHSAA.




       The Leopards are led by head coach Ronnie Cottrell who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 54-21 over the past six seasons at Mobile Christian. Under his direction the Leopards have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Cottrell.

       Coach Cottrell's overall record as a head football coach in seventeen season stands at 117-78 (60.0%). His 117 wins rank 49th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Cottrell's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twelve times and won six region championships.

       The Leopards return 10 starters on defense and all 11 on offense including QB Miguel Camboia and DE Sterling Dixon. Look for Mobile Christian to be much improved this season after graduating just five seniors from last years squad.

       The Mobile Christian Leopards will play in Class 3A region one during the 2022 season. The Leopards may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 4A to 3A. They will compete in region one this year.

       The Leopards should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Leopards have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2014 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

       The Leopards open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Pike Liberal Arts on Friday, August 19 at Harrison Field. Last year the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots finished with an overall record of 12-1 and in first place in Class AAA region one. The Patriots won the Class AAA State Championship last season when they defeated Tuscaloosa Academy by a score of 41-21 in the Super Seven finals in Birmingham.

       Mobile Christian and Pike Liberal Arts have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Leopards have a 4-1-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in 2001 with Mobile Christian winning by a score of 40-20.
